The 2026 GAC Empow is a sport-influenced compact sedan from one of China's fastest-growing mainstream brands — positioned to challenge established Japanese and Korean rivals with sharper styling, a well-equipped cabin, and competitive pricing. Prices start from AED 79,900 for the 1.5T GL and rise to AED 112,900 for the R 2.0T.
The base 1.5T GL runs a 1.5 L turbocharged petrol engine paired with an Automatic gearbox, delivering a practical, fuel-efficient package for daily driving. The top-spec R 2.0T steps up to a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit with noticeably stronger output — the choice for buyers who want a more spirited drive. Both trims seat 5 and share the Empow's distinctive fastback roofline and twin-screen interior layout, which punches well above this price class. Fuel economy across the range achieves 13 Km/L on a mixed cycle.
Pros: the Empow's interior design and tech stack — including a large infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, and ADAS safety features — would not look out of place in a car costing significantly more. The top-spec R 2.0T offers genuine performance for the money. Cons: GAC's service network in the UAE is still maturing compared to Toyota or Hyundai, which is worth factoring into long-term ownership plans. Resale value for newer Chinese brands remains harder to predict than for established Japanese rivals.
The GAC Empow is a recently introduced model and does not yet have enough transaction history to generate a reliable residual value figure. Buyers should treat resale as competitive with other Chinese-brand sedans in this bracket, but plan on holding the car for longer if depreciation is a concern.
Buyers cross-shopping the Empow typically also consider the Chery Arrizo 6, Geely Emgrand, and BYD Qin — all Chinese-brand sedans in a similar price bracket offering strong tech-per-dirham value. Where the Empow makes its case is on sportier styling and the availability of the more powerful R 2.0T variant, which neither the Emgrand nor the standard Arrizo 6 matches at this price.
